  2. Learn basic rules: The goal of golf is to strike the golf ball with a club and sink it into each hole on the course in order, in as little hits as possible. You keep score by adding 1 point for every time you hit the ball with a club. In golf, the lower the score the better. 
  3. Posture: finding a proper posture is crucial for having a good golf swing. Face the golf ball and stand to the side of it with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend in the hips, keeping your spine straight and your knees slightly flexed. This will make it much easier to hit the ball. 
  4. Grip: If you are right-handed, let your club rest in the creases of your left palm as if you are holding a suitcase. Practice grip even when you are not playing golf until it has become habitual. 
  5. Swing: Judging the distance that the ball will travel depending on how you swing is a key to success in golf. It can be helpful to always pay attention to the start and the finish of each swing and how far the ball goes after each. Imagine that your body is a clock with your head on 1 o’clock. Start with the half-swing (9 o’clock to 3 o’clock swing) and note how far you can reach with it. Let that be your reference point when deciding when to make shorter and longer swings.

Course: Every golf course consists of five basic parts: tee box (the starting point on each hole), fairway (the trimmed part of the golf course), rough (the wild area), putting green (area where the hole is located), and hazards (areas that are difficult to get a golf ball out of, like sand and water).
